Hermès Scarf 90 cm – Le Triomphe du Paladin – Julie Abadie (1999)

Très bon état.

Pièce unique.

Sale price€380,00 EUR

Created in 1999 by Julie Abadie, the "Le Triomphe du Paladin" (The Triumph of the Paladin) scarf is inspired by Byzantine art and the Cretan icons of the 15th and 16th centuries. It is a true piece of goldsmithing in silk. The design tells the legend of Saint George, prince of Cappadocia, slaying the dragon. Honoured as a megalomartyr by the early Greek Christians and adopted as patron saint by the English, he embodies here the faith that crushes evil. The composition is spectacular: the central scene and the four corner medallions are set in a sumptuous frame borrowed from a reliquary of the Holy Cross. A rare and sought-after colourway. Excellent condition.

A word from Diane
This scarf is incredible in its richness. Julie Abadie has managed to transcribe the texture of gold and the brilliance of gems onto silk. It is a fairly rare design, sought after by collectors for its historical theme and its formal beauty.
