Signed by Catherine Baschet, the Hermès scarf Flacons (Scent Bottles) was first issued in 1988, then reissued in 1997, and again in 2009 in a 70 cm version. This refined and original scarf is much appreciated by collectors today for its unusual theme and its graphic richness.

The multicoloured palette rests on a very luminous pale yellow ground, framed by a bright yellow border that enhances the delicate details of the design.

Condition: very good condition. Slight marks near the centre and a few small pulled threads, visible in the last two photographs. The scarf has been cleaned and carefully pressed by our specialist Hermès dry cleaner. The photographs are part of the description and allow you to appreciate this unique piece. With Flacons, Catherine Baschet composes a gallery of bottles in varied shapes and styles, each one representing a miniature world of perfumes and stories.

Inspired by the famous line by Alfred de Musset, “Qu'importe le flacon, pourvu qu'on ait l'ivresse” (never mind the bottle, so long as there is intoxication), this design features a composition of real bottles, carefully drawn. Every bottle depicted really existed and is kept in museums or prestigious collections. As an elegant nod, Hermès has included some of its own creations, slipped in among the antique bottles: it is up to you to spot them.
